Meet Alida Lamb, Who Survived a Rocky Start and Now Loves to Run and Play at Sanctuary #AnimalRescue

Alida, the youngest lamb at Farm Sanctuary’s Northern California Shelter, has a lot to
be happy about. She was rescued from a “farm-to-table” lambing operation as a tiny
baby and brought to the sanctuary. From her very first day with us, she has made her
mark with her unique personality.

Alida
loves to spend her time running around with the other lambs and goat kids at the
shelter. She has become known for her talent at zigging and zagging while she
plays and runs around with the other youngsters — something that has made her
notoriously difficult to photograph!

While
Alida loves to spend her time running around, she only likes to do so with her
animal and humanimal friends close by. This little lady hates to be without her
friends, and will refuse to run and play if her “people” aren’t close by
— often planting herself firmly in place and calling out until one of her
friends comes up to her to give her a pat or nudge to reassure her that
everything is okay and it is fine to proceed playing. Once she gets this
reassurance, she is back to her playful self, running around like a lightning
bolt.

Once
she has had her fill of running and jumping through the yard, she wants nothing
more than to cuddle up with one of her humanimal friends. She will often rest
her tiny head on the nearest lap, and enjoys just sitting and soaking up all
the attention offered to her. Sometimes she will even become so relaxed that
she’ll fall asleep, no doubt dreaming about running around the farm with her
friends.

Alida is a very special lamb, with more amazing things about her
than are countable — from her seeming superpower of always having her tongue
sticking out in pictures (see above) to her ability to put a smile on the face of every
person she meets. We are so fortunate to have her as a part of our lives. We
can’t wait to watch her grow, and, once she’s big enough, introduce her to our
main sheep herd. There are inevitably many stories to come about this special
girl who is living the Farm Sanctuary life to fullest every day.

Please share Alida’s story and honor less fortunate lambs and sheep for whom she serves as an ambassador. Thanks to our supporters, we are able to take in rescued animals like Alida, perform larger-scale emergency rescues, educate the public, and promote awareness. If you haven’t joined Farm Sanctuary yet, won’t you consider becoming a part of this compassionate community?
