New Research Suggests Genetic Basis To Sexual Orientation

Human Rights Campaign President Joe Solmonese released the
following statement in response to a study of fruit flies that
indicates a possible genetic basis for sexual orientation. The study,
reported in the June 3rd International Herald Tribune, was conducted by
scientists at the Institute of Molecular Biotechnology at the Austrian
Academy of Sciences in Vienna.

"Science is closing the door on right-wing distortions. No
matter what, all people deserve to be treated equally and with dignity
and respect. The growing body of scientific evidence continues to
refute the opponents of equality who maintain that sexual orientation is
a 'choice.'
