Puppy Protection Act Now Has Bill Numbers

The Puppy Protection Act, which seeks to address systematic problems with so-called “puppy mills,” has now been assigned bill numbers. S. 1478,

sponsored by Senators Rick Santorum (R-PA) and Richard Durbin (D-IL), and

H.R. 3058, sponsored by Representatives Ed Whitfield (R-KY) and Sam Farr

(D-CA), are aimed at puppy mill operators who breed animals every heat

cycle, deprive them of veterinary care and socialization with other dogs

and people, and generally mistreat these animals. To find out if your

Senators and Representative have cosponsored the Puppy Protection Act yet,

go to http://thomas.loc.gov and type ‘S.1478’ or ‘H.R. 3058’ into the

search box.
