The Sierra Club announced its endorsement of Katie McGinty for U.S. Senate.
“Katie McGinty has been a tireless advocate for protecting our public lands and our clean air and water, and the Sierra Club is proud to endorse her,” said Michael Brune, Executive Director of the Sierra Club. “From strengthening and reauthorizing the Clean Air Act to helping turn Pennsylvania into a clean energy leader, McGinty has proven to be a climate champion, and we look forward to continuing to work with her in the Senate.”
The former head of — and first woman to hold each position — the White House Council on Environmental Quality and Secretary of Pennsylvania’s Department of Environmental Protection, McGinty has a long record of enacting policies that protect our public health and prevent further climate disruption.
“I’ve spent my entire career working to not only protect our environment, but also prove that protecting our environment and supporting our economy go hand in hand,” said Katie McGinty. “The environmental challenges we face are urgent and they are critical, and if I’m elected to represent Pennsylvania, I’ll fight every day to protect our public lands, keep our water clean, and continue building a clean energy economy.”
The Sierra Club will mobilize its members and supporters to elect endorsed candidates like Katie McGinty, including through its Victory Corps campaign, an effort that embeds Sierra Club staff on campaigns around the country.
