ANWR Saved In Senate Vote

The Senate narrowly defeated an effort to open up the Arctic National
Wildlife Refuge for oil drilling by approving an amendment offered by
Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) to strip the proposal from a budget bill.
Concerns that drilling would harm polar bears, caribou and their calves,
and millions of migratory birds won the day in a 52-48 vote for the Boxer
amendment.
