WWF statement on introduction of the PLASTICS Act in the US House

In response to the introduction of the PLASTICS Act in the US House, World Wildlife Fund (WWF) issued the following statement from James Mazzarella, Senior Vice President, Policy and Government Affairs:

“With eight million metric tons of plastic entering our oceans each year, mismanaged plastic waste is profoundly threatening people and the environment, especially our rivers and oceans.

“The PLASTICS Act will strengthen our country’s international leadership when it comes to preventing, measuring, and managing plastic waste. WWF welcomes this bipartisan legislation and looks forward to working with Congress to build on this effort. With strong commitments from government and industry, we can end additional plastics in nature and ensure the safety of our communities and the environment.”
