Yellowstone Buffalo Amendment Fails By Narrow Vote

The U.S. House of Representatives defeated an amendment to the Interior Appropriations bill offered by Reps. Maurice Hinchey (D-NY) and Charles Bass (R-NH) by a narrow 215-202 vote. This amendment sought to prohibit the National Park Service and U.S. Forest Service from using taxpayer dollars to kill buffalo in Yellowstone National Park. The Yellowstone buffalo herd is the last wild and genetically pure herd in the United States.

Your action brought this vote closer to ever before, and now your U.S. Representative needs to hear from you on how he or she voted. Please check the roll call vote. If your Representative voted "aye," please thank him or her for supporting the buffalo. If your Representative voted "no," let him or her know you are disappointed with the decision to use taxpayer dollars to slaughter these magnificent animals.
