Animal protection laws only work if they're enforced vigorously. We need
your help continuing to push for improved enforcement of the Animal
Welfare Act (AWA) and the Humane Slaughter Act (HSA). Both laws affect
millions of animals and have been seriously under-enforced by the U.S.
Department of Agriculture.
The Animal Welfare Act requires minimum
standards of care for animals at 10,000 sites, including puppy mills,
laboratories, zoos, circuses, and airlines. Thanks to your efforts in the
past few years, Congress has begun to provide increased funding to hire
additional inspectors
