A Bright Future With Solar Power

An eco-friendly lighting firm in St Albans is celebrating its fifth birthday this month – with a ”zero carbon” solar-powered party.

The Solar Centre on Campfield Road is ”pulling out all the stops” to ensure its anniversary bash is as ‘green’ as possible. It plans to harness the sun’s energy to power a DJ booth, sound system, and ”several” drinks fridges. Even its birthday cake could have solar-powered candles.

A company spokesman said the garden party on 23 July would be held at a ”small and intimate” location as a ”special thank you” to staff and select customers. He said: ”As our name suggests, The Solar Centre specialises in affordable solar-powered products. ”These produce zero carbon emissions and, as a result, we wanted to reflect those green credentials at our fifth anniversary party.

”We’re looking forward to what we know will be a fun, free party, for our hard-working staff and select customers.”

The Solar Centre was founded in 2005 with one simple aim – to provide ”high quality” solar products in a market flooded with low-grade goods. Its products range from garden, decking, shed and security lights, to solar-powered mobile phone chargers and ‘green’ gadgets. The company is among few local businesses to thrive in the recession. It made no redundancies and even turned over a profit.

” We are a consumer orientated business and we do what we can to make sure our customers enjoy their experience with us,” a spokesman said.

”We offer advice, a price guarantee on all our products and a returns promise. We want everyone who buys something from us to feel like they were treated well and not sold things they didn’t need by a salesman.”
