In April, online trading company eBay teamed up with Castle Rock
Outfitters, an Alaskan hunting outfitter specializing in organized trips
to kill wildlife such as grizzly bears, caribou, and wolves.
eBay’s
promotion of Castle Rock Outfitters’ latest wolf-killing venture touts it
as “an
incredible opportunity to see Alaska AND hunt the Alaskan wolf.” What
worries wolf protectionists the most is that the hunt comes perilously
close to the Denali National Park, where efforts have been ongoing to
protect the Toklat and the Sanctuary wolf packs (see
Issue144), whose members frequently roam beyond park boundaries and are
killed by hunters and trappers. Even more worrisome, perhaps, is eBbay’s
insistence that their promotion of calculated killing is morally
acceptable because it falls within the boundaries of what is legal.
WHAT YOU CAN DO:
Contact eBay and let them know that you find their promotion of wolf
killing to be irresponsible and unacceptable. Address your letters to
