California, the world’s fifth-largest economy, has elected Gavin Newsom as its 40th governor. Newsom has pledged to build on California’s efforts to combat climate change, put California on a path to 100 percent renewable energy, preserve clean air and clean water, and improve the reliability of the state’s water supply.
