Human Rights First Applauds Sebastian Gorka’s Departure from the White House

In response to reports that Sebastian Gorka, deputy assistant and senior counter-terrorism advisor to President Trump, will be reassigned from his White House role, Human Rights First’s Rob Berschinski, former deputy assistant secretary of state for democracy, human rights, and labor, issued the following statement:

“Sebastian Gorka’s history of association with antisemitic and extremist groups cast a dark shadow on this administration. Given the company he has kept, and his outrageous views on religion, he should never have been allowed to set foot in the White House. He has no business serving as a representative of the American people in any capacity—not in the White House or anywhere else within the U.S. government.”

Human Rights First has advocated for Gorka’s dismissal since revelations emerged of his ties to and support for multiple Hungarian extremist groups. A recent fact sheet details Gorka’s connections to, and vocal support of, extreme-right and antisemitic Hungarian groups and political parties.
