On Thursday, the U.S. House of Representatives passed legislation funding the Department of Interior and the EPA that is laden with provisions attacking clean energy, climate action, public lands, and the Department of Interior and the EPA themselves. This is the first piece of Interior-EPA appropriations legislation to pass in seven years.
In Response, Sierra Club Legislative Director Melinda Pierce Released the Following Statement:
“All of the pandering to big polluters that resulted in this disgraceful bill must have been exhausting for House Republicans, so it makes sense that they’re now going on a seven week vacation. Behind them, they’ve left a pile of toxic legislative waste burning through our clean air and clean water safeguards. The only silver lining is that this bill will never again see the light of day and House Republicans won’t be able to do further legislative damage during their long summer break.”
