The Sierra Club unveiled its national #ClimateVoter web guide at ClimateVoter2016.org. The guide is designed to inform voters who care about climate change and the environment about which candidates for Congress and the Presidency are “Climate Champions” and which are “Climate Disasters.” It will be promoted to the Sierra Club’s 2.4 million members and supporters, and advertised to environmentally–minded swing state voters.
The voter guide leads by prominently highlighting the clear distinction between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump on the crucial issue of the climate crisis and tackling it with climate action. Voters can then go on to view some of the top senate races in the country, where climate champions like Tammy Duckworth (IL), Deborah Ross (NC), Michael Bennet (CO), Jason Kander (MO), Catherine Cortez Masto (NV) and Russ Feingold (WI) face climate disasters like Mark Kirk, Richard Burr, Darryl Glenn, Roy Blunt, Joe Heck and Ron Johnson.
“When it comes to tackling the climate crisis, the contrast between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton could not be more stark, and the consequences could not be greater for our families and our future” said Sierra Club Executive Director Michael Brune. “The choice is equally clear up and down the ballot, with climate champions and climate disasters running against one another in Senate and House races across the country. Our #ClimateVoter web guide makes the choice crystal clear to voters, because no climate voter can afford to sit this historic election out.”
Additional site functionalities include the ability for voters to alter their Facebook and Twitter profile pictures to incorporate “I’m a #ClimateVoter,” as well as embedded share functions so that voters can inform their friends and family about who they support this election season and why.
