The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) is reportedly testing synthetic fiber products in place of their traditional, real muskrat fur hats. Considering the RCMP's seventy-year tradition of using animal fur in its uniforms, the switch would be a great step toward compassion and away from cruelty. Leading the opposition to the impending switchover is the Fur Institute of Canada, which argues, among other things, that because muskrat are not endangered, they can and should be killed for their fur.
WHAT YOU CAN DO:
Write to the RCMP, in support of their pending decision to abolish real animal fur in their official uniforms.
