With your inspiring support, the animals scored a huge win this month—to the tune of $250,000.
When we heard about Pepsi’s “Refresh” donation program for philanthropic causes, we were excited. Here was an opportunity for The HSUS to rescue even more animals from the abuse they suffer daily.
We knew the Pepsi grant would go a long way toward saving animals trapped in misery. Buoyed by the prospect, and the enthusiasm of our members, we made our pitch to Pepsi.
Then it was up to you—our dedicated supporters—to prove to Pepsi how much the public supports our animal protection cause. And you came through for the animals: When Pepsi tallied the votes, The HSUS stood far above the rest.
“After the votes came in, I couldn’t help but imagine all the dogs, cats, and horses whose lives will be spared because of the Pepsi grant,” says Ann Chynoweth, senior director of The HSUS’ Animal Cruelty and Fighting campaign. “I’m overwhelmed by the support of everyone who voted, and by what this means for the animals.”
Poised for action
The Pepsi grant couldn’t have come at a better time. In the past few years, The HSUS has assembled the strongest team in the nation to fight animal abuse. Just in 2010 we rescued and rehomed thousands of animals who endured terrible cruelty.
With this grant and your votes of confidence, 2011 promises to be a banner year for our animal rescue work. We stand at the ready, and we thank you from the heart.
