The Sierra Club has filed suit against two LNG proposals: Sabine Pass LNG Terminal and Corpus Christi Liquefaction Project. Both projects raise significant concerns under the National Environmental Policy Act and the Natural Gas Act.
In response, Sierra Club Staff Attorney Nathan Matthews released the following statement:
“If we are to protect our public health and communities and meet our global climate commitments, we cannot continue the massive expansion of fossil fuels. If permitted, both of these dirty fuel projects will increase fossil fuel operations — including fracking — throughout the country. Increasing operations will lock America into outdated dirty fuels at a time when the economics and the people are calling for the expansion of clean, renewable energy rather than more oil and gas.
“Both the Sabine Pass and Corpus Christi projects are a threat to our clean air and communities and must be rejected.”
