The Humane Society Wildlife Land Trust, an affiliate of The Humane Society of the United States, established a permanent wildlife sanctuary in Lavina, Mont., after receiving the 160-acre conservation easement as a donation from Ed and Kathleen Arnold of Newport, Ore. The new Arnold Wildlife Sanctuary is home to number of animals, such as deer, fox, coyote, rabbits, squirrels, black bear, bobcats, salamanders and a variety of birds, including waterfowl. The area also serves as a way station for many migratory species.
“We are honored to have the opportunity to work with the Arnolds to protect their land for wildlife,” said Robert Koons, executive director of the Wildlife Land Trust. “Their generosity and love for all animals will live on through the legacy of this permanent wildlife sanctuary.”
