FOX television stooped to new lows last Monday, when its controversial beauty-pageant show, "The Swan,"gave away a full-length mink coat to the pageant winner. This is the first time that a fur coat has been given away on a major network national television show in at least 14 years. (The Wheel of Fortune, bowing to public pressure and moral concerns, gave away its last fur coat in 1990.) FOX's decision to break the humane trend against fur is a huge setback for the animals, and it should not be allowed to escalate.
