Trump’s Head Melts As He’s Caught on Tape Calling Climate Change a Hoax #ClimateChange

Hours after Donald Trump denied calling climate change a “hoax” during the first Presidential debate, the Sierra Club Political Committee released a new video today showing Donald Trump’s head melting — well, at least an ice sculpture of his head — as he calls climate change a “hoax” over and over again.

Donald Trump was widely ridiculed for insisting that he had never called climate change a Chinese hoax, despite the fact that he had tweeted and said exactly that multiple times. One of those tweets became the absolute most tweeted item of the first Presidential debate.

“Donald Trump got caught melting down on another lie last night, and this one may be one of the most consequential yet. During the debate, Trump proved that he cannot be trusted on just about anything, especially when it comes to tackling the climate crisis,” said Khalid Pitts, National Political Director for the Sierra Club. “Our country can’t afford to have the only climate denying world leader in the White House. Thankfully, there is a clear choice: Donald Trump is running on the worst climate platform of any nominee in history, and Hillary Clinton is running on the best.”

Top Trump surrogates scrambled to control the damage from the lie — but they seemed confused in their own right, as running mate Mike Pence (another notorious climate denier) and Campaign Manager Kellyanne Conway both hit the TV circuit to double down on Trump’s denial, with Pence even using the word “hoax” again.

Maybe the reason that Trump and his team are so confused on this issue is because of how embarrassing it would be to the United States that Trump, if elected, would literally be the only head of state on earth to deny the science and dangers of climate change.

This year, the planet is truly on the ballot, and the Sierra Club, America’s largest and oldest environmental organization, is using our #ClimateVoter campaign to make that choice absolutely clear. Sierra Club Executive Director Michael Brune can be available today to join you if you’ve got interest in exploring this issue further and why Trump’s denial is dangerous both politically and scientifically.
