In late October, HRC partners Fernando Velázquez and Francisco Robledo presented HRC Equidad MX: Global Workplace Equality Program at the 6th edition of LGBT Confex International Business and Tourism Forum in Mexico City. LGBT Confex, a Mexico-based organization focused on creating a dialogue for LGBTI inclusion, co-hosted the event with Scotiabank and AT&T, bringing together professionals, businesses and suppliers to discuss their commitment to LGBTQ diversity.
HRC Equidad MX: Global Workplace Equality Program, the first of it’s kind outside the U.S. for HRC, launched this fall after five years of engagement in Mexico, including the first international launch of the Corporate Equality Index last fall in Mexico City and participation in Pride Connection’s inaugural summit on LGBTQ inclusion this past Spring.
HRC Equidad MX will increase awareness about the importance of LGBTQ diversity and inclusion in Mexico’s workplaces by developing consulting and education models for Mexican companies and organizations. It will also utilize HRC’s tools and relationships to engage interested companies in aligning their corporate policies on LGBTQ inclusion to international standards.
Fernando Velázquez of FVConsulting – Consultores en Diversidad e Inclusión, S.C and Francisco Robledo of Alianza por la Diversidad e Inclusión Laboral (ADIL), were excited to represent HRC Equidad MX at LGBT Confex in Mexico. Following their presentation, several companies came forward to request more information, opening the door for possible collaborations to promote LGBTQ workplace inclusion throughout Mexico.
